Kathmandu, August 31
The federal and local governments have jointly set up temporary shelters and relief distribution centres at 26 locations across Rasuwa and Nuwakot for people affected by the recent floods.
According to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers, 3,454 people received temporary shelter and relief at these centres on Sunday.
In Nuwakot alone, 2,274 people were accommodated at 16 temporary shelters.
In Bidur Municipality, flood-affected residents from the Tupche area have been accommodated at a library camp, while those from the Trishuli Dhunge and Simchaur areas are staying at the safe house and the building used for families observing mourning rituals.
Residents affected in Betravati have been sheltered at the local health post, while those from the Battar area are staying at the covered hall. Flood victims from Devighat have been accommodated at the Ayurvedic Alternative Medicine Centre.
Similarly, residents affected in the Betravati-Bhaise area are staying at Sundari Kairyani Secondary School. Those from the Trishuli Bazaar area have been accommodated at camps set up at the Colony Covered Hall, Bhairum Secondary School, Rimal Danda and Indrayani Basic School.
Flood-affected residents from Sitkhali in Bidur-3, Devighat, have been accommodated at Ranabhuwaneswari Secondary School and the ward office.
Those affected in Bidur-9 are staying at Trishuli Basic School and Shulakshana Secondary School. Residents from the Ratmate-Jiling area of Belkotgadhi Municipality are staying at Mahadev Secondary School.
Similarly, people affected in Kispang Rural Municipality-5 have been accommodated at Karki Manakamana Basic School and Tribhuvan Secondary School, while some flood victims from Rasuwa are staying at Tamang Plaza in Battar.
Injured people rescued from the flood-hit areas are receiving treatment and accommodation at the safe house in Bidur-2, the Ayurvedic Alternative Medicine Centre in Devighat, Mahadev Secondary School in Belkotgadhi-7 and Shulakshana Secondary School in Bidur-9.
Meanwhile, 10 temporary shelters have been established in Rasuwa for flood victims, with 1,180 people taking shelter there, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
Shelters have been set up in Dadagaun of Uttargaya Rural Municipality-2 and in Haku, Pangling and Gre of Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality-1 and 2.
Similarly, shelters are operating in Thuman, Dalphedi, Khaidi, Briddhim, Lingling and Syafrubesi in Gosainkunda Rural Municipality-1, 2, 3 and 5, as well as in Haku, Pangrang and Gre of Amachhodingmo Rural Municipality-1 and 2.
