Kathmandu, August 28
Rasuwa, the district worst affected by the recent floods, has been reconnected to the road network after an alternative route to the district was reopened for small four-wheeled vehicles.
According to the Ministry of Physical Infrastructure and Transport, the road from Kathmandu via Tokha, Chhahare, Gadkhar Bridge, Aapre, Narja, Lachyang, Saramthali, Patikharka, Bogatitar and Kalikasthan to Dhunche has been opened for light four-wheeled vehicles.
Rasuwa had been cut off from the road network after the floods swept away 13 bridges within the district alone, on the Rasuwa side of the Mitir Bridge.
Two bridges along the Nuwakot-Rasuwa border were also destroyed, further disrupting road connectivity to the district.
The government has been prioritising the restoration of roads and bridges in Rasuwa following the devastating floods. The Bhotekoshi flood had destroyed around 40 kilometres of roads and 41 bridges in the district.
