The floods that swept through Rasuwa and downstream areas have caused infrastructure damage estimated at around Rs 200 billion, according to Minister for Physical Infrastructure Sunil Lamsal.
Responding to questions about the damage caused by Wednesday morning’s flood, Lamsal said preliminary information suggested that infrastructure losses were approaching Rs 200 billion.
He said the Rasuwa flood had caused extensive damage to infrastructure, particularly roads and bridges, and that the government would prioritise their reconstruction and restoration.
“We have received information that infrastructure damage is around Rs 200 billion,” Lamsal said.
The flood entered Nepal from the Tibetan side through the Bhote Koshi River and caused widespread destruction across Rasuwa, Nuwakot, Dhading and Chitwan, among other districts.
At least seven deaths have so far been confirmed, according to the information available to authorities, while rescue and search operations continue.
