Kathmandu, August 19
Employees working at public enterprises, authorities, boards, corporations and committees will also receive the recently increased salaries and allowances.
The Ministry of Finance has informed all such institutions about the decision through an official letter.
The government has increased employees’ basic salaries, grade amounts and incentive allowances effective from July 17 (Shrawan 1).
According to the ministry, a ministerial-level decision on August 18 has made arrangements for employees of all public enterprises, boards, corporations and committees to receive the revised salary, grade and incentive allowances.
The ministry has, however, instructed the institutions not to increase any additional allowances or facilities that would create an extra financial burden without prior approval from the Ministry of Finance.
It has also set conditions for employees already receiving performance-based or incentive allowances.
If the existing incentive allowance is higher than the amount prescribed by the government, institutions will be required to limit the allowance to the amount exceeding or falling within the government-prescribed level, according to the ministry.
The ministry has further directed institutions to gradually move towards a system where incentive allowances are provided based on performance indicators.
