Provincial Assembly Member Rajiv Gurung, widely known as Deepak Manange, has been dismissed from his post after being convicted of attempted murder for attacking someone with a sword.
The Constitutional Bench of the Supreme Court ruled that Gurung, who had previously been declared ineligible to contest elections, misled authorities with false information to obtain his position as a lawmaker.
While the petition had demanded his dismissal be applied retroactively from the beginning of his term, the court decided that the dismissal would take effect from the date of the verdict, which was issued on Wednesday.
