Property worth Rs 20 million lost in fire

Damak, April 10

Property worth over Rs 20 million was gutted in a fire that occurred near Lifeline Hospital of Damak, Jhapa last night.

The fire emanated from a house of a local Prem Bahadur Dhimal and spread to three other houses, causing a huge loss of property.

District Police Office, Jhapa informed that even the medical equipment and accessories were damaged in the fire as it covered the building having dialyses facility. Hospital Chairman Dr Muktinath Bhattarai said that the dialyses machine was rendered dysfunctional with the blaze.

The blaze was doused with joint efforts of the Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and locals. They had to mobilise six fire engines to bring the fire under control. A local woman informed that the fire was spread from a crate lit to avoid mosquitoes.
