Kathmandu, September 27
The Prithvi Highway has been completely blocked in both directions after landslides occurred at two locations in Dhading.
Landslides have blocked the highway at Krishnabhir in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7 and Tingrangkhani in Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-10.
According to Kumar Basnet, ward chairperson of Benighat Rorang Rural Municipality-7, continuous rainfall has triggered repeated landslides at Krishnabhir, completely obstructing the road.
“A landslide carrying mud and debris is falling from an area covered with plastic during the construction of a new road track. The road is completely blocked by the mudslide, and vehicles cannot pass at the moment,” Basnet said.
Police said small landslides have also occurred at several other locations along the highway.
According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Prakash Dahal, traffic at those locations is currently operating on a one-way basis.
Authorities are working to clear the landslide debris and restore traffic along the highway.:::
