The winners of two prestigious beauty pageants have been announced this year. The Miss Universe Nepal and Miss Earth winners were declared at the grand finale held on Sunday evening.
Prayashna Gurung won the Miss Universe Nepal 2026 title, while Binita Oli was crowned Miss Earth 2026. Fourteen contestants competed for the title.
Former Miss Universe India and Bollywood actress Celina Jaitly was the chief judge at the finale. Gurung is a non-resident Nepali based in Britain and runs women’s empowerment programs.
She is running a project called “The Dignity” to support entrepreneurship and empowerment among Nepali women. Oli, the 27-year-old Miss Earth Nepal, is reported to have had a few years of experience as an international air hostess.
The Hidden Treasure, the organisation that has long run Miss Nepal, had been organising Miss Earth for a long time. It gave up the event a few years ago.
Now, the same organisation, which holds the license for Miss Universe Nepal, has organised Miss Earth as well.
