The situation around Tribhuvan International Airport has become chaotic following the arrival of former King Gyanendra Shah from Jhapa, Eastern Nepal.
Monarchist supporters have gathered outside the airport gate, chanting slogans such as “Our King, Our Country” and “King, Come Save the Nation.”
The local administration has imposed a prohibitory order in the airport area. Meanwhile, passengers arriving at the airport have faced difficulties.

A large number of royalist supporters have gathered around the airport premises, creating problems for travellers. Many passengers were seen hurriedly dragging their suitcases through the airport gate to enter the terminal.
Durga Prasai, coordinator of the Nation, Nationality, Religion, Culture and Citizen Protection Campaign Nepal, also arrived at the airport a short while ago. After leaving his supporters outside, he entered the airport premises, saying he would escort former King Shah.

Security has been tightened as preparations are underway to take the former king from the airport to Nirmal Niwas.
According to Pawan Kumar Bhattarai, spokesperson for the Kathmandu District Police Range, strict security arrangements have been put in place from Tribhuvan International Airport to Nirmal Niwas.
