Janakpurdham, October 14

Over 40 people have sustained injures when the Nepali Congress cadres clashed with police at Sarlahi District Police Office on Wednesday.

Whereas more than 20 demonstrators were injured as per Congress leader Birendra Singh, also a Provincial Assembly member, 22 police officials and personnel have been hurt.

Leaders and cadres of the party had come to the DPO demanding action against the persons who allegedly murdered a Congress cadre. However, the delegation tried to enter the DPO forcefully, inviting the clash, informs DSP Madan Kunwar, the DPO spokesperson.

“As soon as they came, they hurled stones,” Kunwar says, “They broke some windowpanes, and we were compelled to use force.”

The law enforcers also used tear gas to disperse the mob.

Meanwhile, the party has accused police of suppressing the peaceful demonstration.
