Ranveer Singh’s film Dhurandhar has made a strong start at the Indian box office, earning impressive figures in its first four days of release. Made on a budget of INR 2.8 billion, the film collected INR 1.2625 billion in India and INR 1.93 billion worldwide.
On Monday alone, the film earned INR 232.5 million, indicating that its momentum at the box office has not slowed down. Meanwhile, significant news has emerged regarding the film’s OTT deal.
Producer Aditya Dhar has reportedly signed a deal worth more than INR 1 billion with an OTT platform for the film’s digital streaming rights. According to Bollywood Hungama, the OTT rights were sold at a high price.
The film, which was released on Friday, has been confirmed to premiere on Netflix. Quoting sources, Bollywood Hungama reported that Netflix purchased the streaming rights to Ranveer Singh’s spy-action film for INR 1.3 billion, though there is a twist.
As per the report, the deal with Netflix covers both parts of the franchise. This means that both Dhurandhar Part 1 and Dhurandhar Part 2 will be released on the same OTT platform, with streaming rights valued at INR 650 million each.
The film has been produced under the banners of Jio Studios and B62 Studios by Jyoti Deshpande, Aditya Dhar, and Lokesh Dhar.
Sources said that at a time when OTT prices have generally declined, this deal stands out as a massive figure and is a big relief for Ranveer Singh. Taken together, the combined payment for both parts makes this the biggest OTT deal of the actor’s career.
Earlier, Netflix had bought the OTT rights to Ranveer’s 2021 sports drama 83 for INR 300 million. The 2023 release Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani had sold its streaming rights to Amazon Prime Video for INR 800 million.
Dhurandhar Part 2 has not yet been released and is scheduled to hit theatres during Eid next year on March 19, 2026.
As for its OTT release, Netflix viewers will have to wait. Typically, there is an eight-week window after theatrical release, meaning the film is expected to stream on Netflix from mid-February to the first week of March.
