NEPSE falls 10.67 points, turnover drops to Rs 4.16 billion

Nepal’s stock exchange (NEPSE) fell 10.67 points on Friday after gaining 7.17 points in the previous trading session.

The NEPSE index closed at 2,618 points. Trading turnover also declined, with shares worth Rs 4.16 billion changing hands on Friday compared to Rs 4.40 billion on Thursday.

The prices of 70 companies increased, while 198 companies declined. The prices of 10 companies remained unchanged.

Among the sectoral indices, the Others group recorded the biggest decline, falling 1.06 percent.

The banking sector fell 0.04 percent, development banks 0.54 percent, finance 0.43 percent, hotels and tourism 0.10 percent, hydropower 0.66 percent, investment 0.19 percent, life insurance 0.37 percent, manufacturing and processing 0.46 percent, microfinance 0.44 percent, non-life insurance 0.04 percent and trading 0.68 percent.

As usual, the hydropower sector recorded the highest turnover, with transactions worth Rs 2.50 billion. The sector accounted for around 60 percent of the total market turnover.

Commercial banks recorded transactions worth Rs 330 million, while the manufacturing and processing sector saw turnover of Rs 420 million.
