NEPSE falls 16.47 points, turnover exceeds Rs 5 billion

The share market fell by double digits on Monday, the first trading day of the week.

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index fell 16.47 points to close at 2,613.33 points on Monday, a decline of 0.62 per cent. However, daily turnover exceeded Rs 5 billion.

A total of 13,178,128 shares of 357 securities were traded in 58,500 transactions on Monday. The total turnover stood at Rs 5.385 billion.

All sub-indices except the trading sub-index declined on Monday, weighing on the overall market. Investors in non-life insurance companies suffered the biggest loss, with the sub-index falling 1.20 per cent.

KBL Debenture posted the highest gain of 12.17 per cent on Monday, followed by Laxmi Sunrise Debenture, which rose 10 per cent. Prime Bank Debenture gained 8.83 per cent.

Hathway Investment Nepal Limited recorded the biggest decline, falling 10.58 per cent.

Emerging Nepal Limited, Global IME Balanced Fund and Dhaulagiri Laghubitta Financial Institution were among other securities that posted significant declines.

Himalayan Distillery recorded the highest turnover, while Hathway Investment Nepal Limited recorded the highest number of transactions.
