Nepal reaches final of SAFF U-20 Championship

Nepal has advanced to the final of the SAFF U-20 Championship.

On Sunday, Nepal secured their spot in the final by defeating Bhutan 4-1 in a penalty shootout at the ANFA Complex. The match had ended in a 1-1 draw after the regulation 90 minutes, leading to the penalty shootout.

In the shootout, Ram Thapa, Avinash Syangtan, Simant Thapa, and Jiyarat Sheikh scored for Nepal, while Bhutan’s only successful penalty was converted by Jetsun Dorji.

Nepal’s goalkeeper, Jiyarat Sheikh, became the hero by saving two of Bhutan’s penalties.

Nepal will now face the winner of the second semifinal between India and Bangladesh. The final will take place on Wednesday.
