Vice-President Ramsahay Prasad Yadav held a courtesy meeting with German Ambassador to Nepal Udo Eugen Volz at the Vice-President’s Office in Lainchaur on Tuesday.

The meeting covered various aspects of Nepal-Germany relations, development cooperation, disaster management and people-to-people ties, according to the Vice-President’s Secretariat.

Yadav said relations between the two countries had continued to strengthen through mutual trust, friendship and cooperation since diplomatic ties were established in 1958.

He praised Germany’s significant contributions to Nepal’s socioeconomic development, particularly in health, education, energy and institutional strengthening.

Yadav also expressed gratitude on behalf of the Nepal government and people for the relief and financial assistance provided by Germany following the Bhotekoshi floods on August 26.

Ambassador Volz expressed deep condolences over the loss of lives and property caused by floods in the Rasuwa-Bhotekoshi area. He described Nepal-Germany relations as close and based on trust, and expressed confidence that Nepal would recover from the disaster’s impact.

Volz also said a high-level German delegation led by Dr Bärbel Kofler, Parliamentary State Secretary at Germany’s Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development, was scheduled to visit Nepal to explore potential areas of support for post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation.
