Nepal exported IT services of around USD 515 million or Rs 67.93 billion in 2022.
A study led by Institute for Integrated Development Studies (IIDS) showed that information technology services worth about Rs 68 billion were exported in 2022 alone.
This is a 64.2 per cent increase from 2021 where USD 313 million worth of services were exported.
According to IIDS, 106 IT companies and 66,509 freelancers exported this service.
The report shows that there is a limited amount of IT-related skills in Nepal. The study also suggests that for the development of the IT sector in Nepal, the skills and capabilities of human resources in this field should be increased, and access to high-speed internet should be increased.
