A total of 637 climbers have obtained permits to climb 18 mountains in Nepal during the autumn season of 2026.
According to the Department of Tourism, 637 climbers from 68 teams have received permits to climb various mountains in the country this autumn. Of them, 474 are men and 163 are women, said the department’s information officer, Suraj Ghimire.
The department has collected Rs 238.51 million in royalties from the climbers for issuing climbing permits.
Among the mountains for which permits have been issued, Mt Manaslu (8,163 metres) has attracted the highest number of climbers. A total of 500 climbers from 43 teams have obtained permits to climb Manaslu, generating Rs 225.86 million in royalties.
According to the department, 34 climbers from four teams have obtained permits for Dhaulagiri I, while 20 climbers from two teams have received permits for Putha Hiunchuli. Similarly, 16 climbers from two teams have obtained permits for Danga Hiunchuli and 10 climbers from one team for Baruntse.
The department has also issued permits for Makalu, Gangapurna West (Langchenel), Thorong Peak, Norbu Khang, Annapurna IV, Chamlang, Lamjung Himal, Pumori, Saribung, Thapa Peak (Dhampus), Pokhar Khang, Ardang and Peri, among others.
The permits issued for these mountains have generated $1.57 million, equivalent to Rs 238.51 million, in revenue, according to the department.
