Nearly Rs 12 billion deposited in Prime Minister’s relief funds

Nearly Rs 12 billion has been deposited in the Prime Minister’s Disaster Relief Fund and Prime Minister’s Relief Fund, according to the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers.

As of 9am Tuesday, a total of Rs 11.77 billion had been deposited in the two funds, the office said.

Of the amount, Rs 8.59 billion is currently held in nine commercial banks.

The government has already released Rs 1 billion from the funds to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority for relief and response efforts for flood victims in Rasuwa.

The Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers also said that Rs 211.08 million has been deposited in dollar accounts maintained at Himalayan Bank Limited and Laxmi Sunrise Bank Limited.
