NC President Thapa pledges flexibility for party unity

Waling (Syangja), September 10

Nepali Congress President Gagan Kumar Thapa has said he is ready to be more flexible for the sake of party unity.

Addressing a condolence assembly organised by the Nepali Congress Syangja district chapter on the 45th day of the death of NC senior leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Gopal Man Shrestha, Thapa said he would move forward responsibly to strengthen the party.

“I pledge to be flexible for the sake of party unity. It is also necessary to take serious steps to address the shortcomings within the party,” Thapa said, adding that doing so would not be easy. “Some steps may have to be ruthless for the sake of the party’s welfare.”

Stating that the Nepali Congress had acted responsibly to resolve problems during difficult times in the country, Thapa said the party would work to regain the trust and confidence of citizens.

Thapa said the late Shrestha had played a significant role in strengthening the party. He also said it was not the right time to blame the government as the country had suffered massive destruction.

NC General Secretary Pradip Paudel, Gandaki Province Chief Minister Surendra Raj Pandey, NC Gandaki President Shukra Raj Sharma and other speakers recalled Shrestha’s contributions to the party and the political system.
