Kathmandu, September 7
Nepal is observing a day of national mourning today in memory of those who lost their lives in the devastating flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
A Cabinet meeting held on September 3 decided to observe a national day of mourning in honour of those who died in the unprecedentedly severe flooding in the Bhotekoshi River.
The national flag will be flown at half-mast today at government offices across Nepal, as well as at Nepali embassies and diplomatic missions abroad.
According to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 1,342 people have so far died in the devastating floods, while 4,996 people remain missing.
A total of 6,083 people have been injured, while 21,465 security personnel have been mobilised for search, rescue and relief operations.
Authorities have rescued 13,391 people from the flood-affected areas.
