Nagdhunga-Naubise road section sinks, traffic restricted

Kathmandu, September 2

A section of the Nagdhunga-Naubise road has sunk near Patleban, close to Nagdhunga, the Department of Roads in Dhading said.

According to Arjun Prasad Aryal, an engineer at the Department of Roads, traffic is currently being operated in one direction after the road sank.

Only vehicles carrying petroleum products are being allowed to use the affected route, Aryal said.

Other vehicles travelling along the route are being prepared to be diverted through the tunnel, he said.

Aryal said the road may have sunk after an old retaining wall collapsed.

“The wall along the road was very old. The road may have sunk after the old wall collapsed. However, we will know the exact cause only after a technical team studies the site,” he said.

A technical team from the Department of Roads has already reached the site to assess the damage, Aryal said.
