Veteran singer Mira Rana is set to perform at a solo musical evening on September 20, where she will present some of her timeless songs.
Proceeds from the event will be used to support cancer patients. Rana herself is a cancer survivor. After losing her husband to cancer, she established the Meera Rana Cancer Society to support people affected by the disease.
The 75-year-old singer will perform at the Nepal Academy in Kamaladi. The programme will feature around two dozen songs performed or composed by Rana. Other artists, including Shambhujeet Baskota, Ram Bhakta Jojiju, Kapil Lohani, Krishna Gopal Shrestha, Yogendra Upadhyay, Tshering Bhutia, and cancer-survivor singers Tara Thapa and Sangeeta Thapa, will also perform.
Nisha Deshar, Rupi Singh, Mandavi Tripathi, Sabina Karki, Itu Jojiju, Shital Thapa and Yunisha Deshar will also perform Rana’s songs.
Rana will perform songs she recorded with Swar Samrat Narayan Gopal, including “Timi Deu Ya Nadeu,” “Mero Jovan Laijau,” “Aankhaima Kasaiko Tasbir Basechha” and “Bainiko Daya Chha Bhane.”
She will also perform “Nachdeu Maichyang” and “Sindhupalchok Jilla Ma,” which she recorded with Baskota, as well as “Madal Ghanaghan Ghankaun Ki” and “Lek Phulyo Laligurans,” which she recorded with Kumar Basnet.
Rana’s solo songs, including “Makhamali Cholo Chahidaina,” “Mat Chadheko Sanjh,” “Nashalu Raat,” “Mero Pauma Aaja,” “Samda Sada Shiva,” “Birsiara Maile Pheri,” “Aajsamma Jasari Banera Aaye”, and “Mero Phullalai Basanta Bhayo,” will also be performed at the event.
