Kathmandu to host inaugural China Film Day

China Film Day

The first-ever China Film Day is set to take place on January 9 at Chhaya Center (QFX Cinema), Kathmandu. Organised by the China Film Administration, China Film Archive, and Nepal Film & Cultural Academy, the event aims to strengthen cultural and cinematic ties between Nepal and China.

The event will feature screenings of three Chinese films, followed by Q&A sessions with the filmmakers. It is expected to attract a distinguished audience, including artists, directors, technicians from the cinema industry, and other notable personalities.

According to the organisers, high-level officials from the Chinese Embassy in Nepal, representatives from the Film Development Board, and the Nepal Tourism Board will also attend.

The films being screened are Her Story, directed by Yihui Shao; Midsummer’s Voice, directed by Yudi Zhang; and G for Gap, directed by Long Fei.

“This initiative will serve as a gateway to cultural and commercial partnerships in the film industry between the two nations,” said the organisers.

With participation from senior officials of China’s film authorities and a large delegation of Chinese filmmakers, China Film Day is poised to promote Nepal-China cultural diplomacy and cinematic collaboration in 2025 and beyond.
