Karnali Yaks’s third consecutive victory

William Bosisto’s record-breaking six-wicket haul and Gulshan Jha’s unbeaten 49 runs led Karnali Yaks to their third consecutive victory in the Nepal Premier League (NPL).

After losing their opening two matches, Karnali defeated Pokhara Avengers by seven wickets on Tuesday, bolstering their playoff hopes. With three wins from five games, Karnali remains in fourth place with six points. Sudurpaschim Royals and Chitwan Rhinos also have six points but are ahead of Karnali on net run rate. Meanwhile, Pokhara suffered their third defeat in four games and sit with just two points.

Chasing a modest target of 104, Karnali reached 105 in 15 overs, losing three wickets. Gulshan Jha was the standout performer with 49 runs off 37 balls, hitting three fours and four sixes. Chadwick Walton contributed 42 runs off 34 balls with six boundaries and a six. The duo built a crucial 60-run partnership after Karnali lost two early wickets for just 14 runs.

William Bosisto remained unbeaten on two runs, while opener Babar Hayat was dismissed for seven, and Dev Khanal went for a duck.

For Pokhara, Bipin Khatri, Sagar Dhakal, and Kushal Bhurtel claimed one wicket each.

Earlier, Pokhara won the toss and elected to bat at the TU International Cricket Ground in Kirtipur but were bowled out for 103 in 16.3 overs. Bosisto delivered a sensational spell, taking six wickets for 28 runs in his four overs.

Sompal Kami, Bipin Sharma, and Yunish Singh Thakuri picked up one wicket each for Karnali.

Pokhara’s top scorers included Dinesh Kharel (26), Andres Gous (25), and Raymon Reifer (20). Captain Kushal Bhurtel and Bipin Khatri added 10 runs each, while the remaining batters failed to reach double digits.
