Kathmandu, March 31

The mortal remains of leftist leader and writer Kamal Koirala have been placed at the Unified Socialist Party office in Aloknagar for final tributes.

Koirala, who passed away on Sunday, was the son of former Prime Minister Matrika Prasad Koirala. Active in leftist politics from his teenage years, he also served as Nepal’s ambassador to South Korea. In recent years, he was affiliated with the Unified Socialist Party.

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is scheduled to visit the party office to pay his respects after addressing Parliament. Koirala had been hospitalised a few days ago following a stroke. His final rites will be performed later today.
