On Monday, Accountability Lab’s Nepal chapter announced the names of five government officials as part of their Integrity Icon 2023 campaign.

For the past decade, Accountability Lab Nepal has been actively promoting the establishment of accountability mechanisms by recognising outstanding government officials through the Integrity Icon initiative.

This year’s top five officials include Hema Thapa, hospital nursing in charge at Narayani Hospital, Birgunj, Neera Adhikari, director at Department of Women and Children, Padmanath Atreya, horticulture development officer at Temperate Horticulture Development Centre, Marfa, Mustang, Pratik Rai, administrative officer at District Administration Office, Jhapa and  Rabina Maharjan, principal at Manamaiju Secondary School, Tarakeshwor, Kathmandu.

The Integrity Icon campaign received 466 nominations for 2023 nationwide. This year’s top five Integrity Icons were selected from the nominations by a committee of esteemed judges. 

The judging committee included Suryanath Upadhyaya, the former chief commissioner of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA), Kashiraj Dahal, public administration expert, Jiwan Prabha Lama, former secretary of the Government of Nepal, and  Sucheta Pyakuryal, director at the IIDS Centre for Governance.
