Birgunj, December 20

Five people who went hunting in the Parsa National Park were arrested with their weapons.

The arrested were Damodar Adhikari and Jhapas Das Tharu of Sakhuwa Prasauni rural municipality-1, Navraj Basnet of Akuaniya Tole, Vishal Sahni of Khajuria Ward No 1 and Maldong Tamang of Nasik rural municipality ward-6 of Kavre.

They were caught red-handed with a dead female deer and the head of a male deer along with the two vehicles [Ba 5 7805, and Province 2 02-03-001 Cha 3097] used for hunting.

Surya Khadka, information officer of the Park, informed they also seized a 12-bore loaded gun, 12 rounds of bullets, five mobile phones and Rs 290,000 in cash.

He said they have been detained for further investigation.

It is said that they had come to hunt wild animals in the forest in the rural municipality of Parsa, which falls under the park’s jurisdiction.
