Kathmandu, July 30

A human trafficking case has been registered against Surjaman Mali, who was arrested on Friday for rapine a woman seizing her woman’s property by extorting her.

The woman said she was repeatedly raped by Mali in 2019.

Mali had given a loan of Rs 500,000 and made the woman sign a contract in which he stated she had taken Rs 6.5 million from him.

Lalitpur Police Chief SSP Siddhi Bikram Shah told Onlinekhabar that the survivor has filed a complaint against Mali for the offence against Human Trafficking and Trafficking Act.

According to the police, the survivor has also filed a complaint against Umesh Shahi of Dhapakhel.

The survivor said Mali sent her to meet other people and forced her to have sex with them. However, only the crime against human trafficking has been reported as the limit has been exceeded for the investigation into rape.

Mali is expected to be produced in the District Court, Lalitpur as the police want to remand him in custody for longer.

The survivor met Home Minister Narayan Kaji Shrestha on Friday.

According to police sources, an investigation has also been started regarding the involvement of other people in the incident.
