Kathmandu, September 27
Authorities have banned vehicular movement along the Hetauda-Kathmandu short route after the water level in the Indrasarovar reservoir of the Kulekhani Hydropower Project continued to rise.
The District Administration Office, Makwanpur, has urged passengers and vehicle operators using the short route to exercise caution.
Administrative officer Santosh Subedi said vehicles will not be allowed to operate on the Deurali-Sisneri-Kathmandu and Palung-Sisneri-Deurali-Hetauda routes from 4pm Sunday until 5am Monday.
The administration said the water level in Indrasarovar is continuing to rise. Based on an assessment of rainfall in the reservoir’s catchment area, the Nepal Electricity Authority may sound the warning siren and open the reservoir gates at any time after completing the required safety procedures.
As a precaution, all types of vehicles have been prohibited from operating along the affected road section from 4pm Sunday until 5am on Monday.
Passengers and drivers travelling to Kathmandu from Hetauda or to Hetauda from Kathmandu for essential purposes have been advised to use the Tribhuvan Highway during the restriction period.
