The federal government has planned to establish an industrial village in each of 130 local units across the country this fiscal year.

Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies says the government will spend Rs 9.2 million in the making of each of these villages. In total, the ministry has allocated Rs 196 million for the ‘One Local Unit: One Industrial Village’ project.

The ministry clarifies the local units which were not covered by a similar project in the previous years but which already underwent a feasibility study can apply for a grant under the project this year.

Under the project, the local governments will construct various infrastructures for industrial activities attracting the private sector to invest and run various industries.

The government hopes this project will be instrumental in promoting domestic and small-scale tourism across the country.
