Gavi to provide Nepal with vaccines worth over Rs 8.5 billion by 2030

Kathmandu, October 27

Gavi, the Vaccine Alliance, will provide Nepal with vaccines worth Rs 8.59 billion by 2030.

Minister for Health and Food Hygiene Nisha Mehta shared the information, saying Nepal had secured the assistance for its routine immunisation programme through diplomatic initiatives.

According to the minister’s secretariat, Gavi has also agreed to waive USD 308,271 that Nepal had been shown as needing to repay.

Mehta expressed confidence that the facilitation of the assistance and the waiver, following discussions with Gavi, would make a significant contribution to the financial management of Nepal’s national immunisation programme.

Nepal has been protecting children and other target populations against various infectious diseases through its national immunisation programme.

Support from international partners has played an important role in maintaining the continuity, accessibility and effectiveness of routine immunisation services.
