Flood sweeps away Masot Khola diversion, Lamahi–Ghorahi road blocked again

Kathmandu, August 8

The diversion at Masot Khola, located along the Lamahi–Ghorahi road section in Dang, has been swept away by floodwaters. The flood, triggered by Friday morning’s rainfall, washed away the diversion.

With half of the diversion destroyed, traffic movement along the Lamahi–Ghorahi road has once again been obstructed, informed Roshan Raj Pandey, Chief of the Lamahi Area Police Office.

Vehicles traveling between Ghorahi and Lamahi are being rerouted via Amiliya and Tulsipur. Repair work on the diversion is currently underway.

Earlier, the local administration had decided to halt traffic for four days starting from August 5 to carry out urgent repairs on the Masot Khola bridge. While large vehicles were barred from using the bridge, a diversion was built and brought into operation from Thursday afternoon to allow the passage of vehicles providing essential services. That same diversion was swept away by floodwaters on Friday morning.

Police have stated that only ambulances carrying patients, and empty two-wheelers and four-wheelers in emergency situations, are currently being allowed to use the Masot Khola bridge.
