A consumer who purchased goods worth Rs 350 from Ganesh Electronics and Mobile Centre has won the Rs 1 million taxpayer bumper incentive prize under the government’s taxpayer incentive programme.
The Inland Revenue Department announced the second fortnightly prize for Shrawan at an event organised at the Ministry of Finance. Finance Minister Dr Swarnim Wagle and Finance Secretary Dr Ghanshyam Upadhyaya announced the winner.
The prize was awarded among consumers who carried out transactions in accordance with tax regulations between August 1 and 16.
According to the department, the number of consumers participating in the incentive programme surged during its first month.
A total of 357,149 cash transaction bills were uploaded for the prize draw between August 1 and 16.
In comparison, only 7,077 transaction bills had been uploaded by consumers during the first 15 days of Shrawan.
