Finance Minister Janardan Sharma has directed the concerned officials to prepare a work plan on doubling inland revenue and implementing it effectively.

Minister Sharma reminded that the present work style could not contribute to the country’s progress, so internal revenue must be boosted.

He said it during a meeting with officials of the Inland Revenue Department at the ministry on Thursday.

Minister Sharma assured the officials of assistance as human resources, technology and training so that they could meet the revenue target.

Similarly, the department was asked how it could build a culture in which the taxpayers were attracted to paying taxes.

“The atmosphere for them should be created in a way it encouraged them to pay tax,” the minister reiterated.

On the occasion, Finance Secretary Madhu Kumar Marasini informed that revenue was the lifeline of the national economy. The target of the revenue collection could be changed, he hinted.

Secretary Marasini urged the revenue offices to go digital.
