Disability identity cards delivered to doorsteps

Gorkha, September 11

Shahid Lakhan Rural Municipality has distributed and renewed disability identity cards for people with disabilities by delivering them directly to their doorsteps. Vice-chairperson of the rural municipality, Indira Tiwari, stated that the rural municipality has mobilized doctors, staff, and representatives to distribute the identity cards for the convenience of people with disabilities.

“The rural municipality aims to ensure that no person with a disability is deprived of the services provided by the state,” she said. A team, including Medical Officer Santosh Sitaula from Gorkha Hospital and Birendra Shrestha, Chief of the rural municipality’s health section, visited the homes of people with disabilities to distribute the identity cards.

“A medical report is mandatory to issue a disability ID card, and doctors have been mobilized for this purpose,” the deputy mayor explained. According to her, 233 people with disabilities have received services in the municipality. Rural municipality sources confirmed that nine new disability identity cards have been issued, and 224 have been renewed.
