Nepali Congress former president Sher Bahadur Deuba has said he will hold discussions with party president Gagan Thapa to promote unity within the party.

Deuba made the remarks during a meeting with former Dadeldhura Congress president Karna Malla, who visited Deuba’s residence on Sunday morning.

According to Malla, he urged Deuba to assume a guiding role and help bring all factions together as the party prepares for its 15th general convention.

“I urged him to play a parental role and bring everyone together so that the party can hold its 15th general convention in a united manner,” Malla told Onlinekhabar. He said Deuba was very positive about the proposal.

Malla said Deuba also told him that he would hold discussions with party president Gagan Thapa to work toward resolving differences and strengthening unity within the party.

Malla said he had visited Deuba primarily to inquire about his health after his recent medical treatment.

“Our political relationship had broken down. I went to see him to inquire about his health. I found that his health was fine,” Malla said.

Malla has served as the Nepali Congress president of Dadeldhura twice. His relationship with Deuba had become strained in recent years.
