Death toll in Jajarkot jeep accident reaches 7

The death toll in a jeep accident in Jajarkot of Karnali on Wednesday afternoon has reached seven as of Thursday afternoon.

Rajesh Nath Banstola, Karnali Provincial Police Office Spokesperson, says a 17-year-old boy was found dead one day after the incident, taking the toll to seven.

Whereas five persons had died on the spot, one has breathed his last at Deuti Hospital of Surkhet on Wednesday.

The victims also include Amar Bahadur Shahi, the chairperson of Junichande rural municipality-11.

The four-wheeler (Be 1 Ja 935) heading towards Junichande from the district headquarters, Khalanga, had fallen off the road into a stream named Aulkhola at around 3 pm yesterday.

Meanwhile, families of the victims have not yet collected the bodies claiming the driver’s negligence resulted in the accident, demanding action against him.

They also set the house and the shop of the driver Gorkha Bahadur Basnet on fire. He is on the run since the accident.
