Chhurpi export up by 27 per cent; transaction reaches Rs 1.79 billion in a year

Chhurpi amounting to over Rs 1.79 billion and 2.8 million has been exported from the Mechi Customs Office in the last year alone. With the rise in demand for Nepali Chhurpi products in the international market, the export in the last fiscal year has increased by around 27 per cent compared to the previous fiscal year.

According to the Mechi Customs Office, Chhurpi worth Rs 1.41 billion 7.1 million was exported in fiscal year 2081/82 BS. Information Officer at the Office, Mangal Rai, shared that Chhurpi exports have been continuously rising in the last few years. Chhurpi is used as feed for dogs and cats. It is mainly produced in Ilam, Panchthar and Taplejung.
