Kathmandu, November 4
Big Movies, the multiplex at City Centre in Kamalpokhari, Kathmandu, has introduced international-standard technology. The company started the modern multiplex culture in Nepal two decades ago.
It is now renovating its hall. In line with its slogan, “Experience Cinema, Experience the Difference,” the company has brought the hall up to international standards in technology, sound, seating and ambience.
Big Movies has installed a state-of-the-art Barco 4K RGB laser projector. The Barco SP4K-20C (Series 4) smart laser projector, from the well-known European brand, offers 21,000 lumens of brightness and native 4K resolution (4096×2160). The company said it spent a large sum on the projector to make the scenes on screen sharper, brighter and more vivid.
For realistic, high-quality colour, the hall has technology that supports more than 98.5 percent of the Rec. 2020 and DCI-P3 colour spaces.
On the sound side, the hall has a 3D immersive sound system, a 64-channel Dolby Atmos setup. Unlike traditional sound systems, it gives each speaker an independent audio feed.
With the overhead and surround speakers and a CP(5)A sound processor, the system can control up to 128 sound objects at once, surrounding the audience with realistic sound from all directions. These speakers give viewers a more thrilling experience, especially in action and sound-intensive films.
The seats have also been made more comfortable. The hall has new luxury and ergonomic (premium) seating to give viewers a special experience. It has 255 22-inch “Champion Series” theatre chairs, with advanced ergonomics, rich laminated fabric and three-position locking.
For a more luxurious and comfortable experience, 29 cream-coloured 29-inch “Royal Luxuria” recliners have been installed.
Big Movies Chairman Rajendra Aryal told a press conference on Tuesday that the hall has been given a completely new environment, with new carpeting, acoustic wall covering and modern lighting.
