Kathmandu, September 6
The installation of a Bailey bridge over the Tadi River at Devighat Bazaar in Nuwakot began on Saturday, with the Nepal Army starting the construction work.
The bridge will reconnect Devighat Bazaar with Jiling, which have remained disconnected after a permanent bridge was swept away by a massive flood in the Bhotekoshi River in Rasuwa on August 26.
The flood caused extensive damage to bridges and other infrastructure along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli rivers, with around 100 bridges reportedly damaged.
Once completed, the Bailey bridge will provide a temporary transport link between Devighat Bazaar and Jiling and help ease movement in the flood-affected areas.
