Kathmandu, October 9
Advance booking for bus tickets for Dashain travel opened on Friday, drawing crowds to ticket counters at Kathmandu’s New Bus Park.
Some passengers began queuing outside the counters late Thursday night, hoping to secure tickets for their journey home for the festival.
Pankaj Malla, general manager of Lhotse Multipurpose Pvt Ltd, which operates the New Bus Park, said passengers travelling to districts in Sudurpashchim Province had started lining up as early as 9pm on Thursday.
A meeting between the Department of Transport Management, Nepal Police, transport entrepreneurs and transport workers on Tuesday, October 6, had decided to open advance bookings for Dashain from October 9.
Lotse Multipurpose said it had added 15 ticket counters in the New Bus Park area to manage the rush and had made the necessary security arrangements.
