Kathmandu, October 29
Office-bearers and members of the Nepali Congress central working committee will take the oath today. They were elected at the party’s 15th General Convention.
The Central Election Committee will hold the ceremony on Thursday. It covers everyone elected at the convention except the president.
President Gagan Kumar Thapa took the oath and assumed office earlier.
The ceremony will begin at 2 pm today, according to Election Committee member secretary Raju Katuwal. It will be held at the party’s central office in Sanepa.
The committee issued a notice last Monday and has asked the office-bearers and central members elected at the 15th General Convention to attend.
The convention was held from July 2 to 6. It elected a 231-member central working committee under Thapa’s leadership. The party statute provides for a 297-member committee. Under the statute, the president nominates 66 of those members.
The party plans to nominate the remaining members at a central committee meeting today.
