Kathmandu, October 25
More than 1,000 police personnel will be deployed daily to ensure security during the Nepal Premier League (NPL).
The Kathmandu District Police Range has begun implementing a dedicated security plan for the tournament. According to SSP Dilip Ghimire, a team including the chief district officer visited the TU Cricket Stadium in Kirtipur on Saturday to inspect the venue.
Police have divided the security arrangements into several categories to ensure comprehensive coverage during the tournament.
SSP Ghimire said security would cover players, the eight hotels where they will stay, their transportation between hotels and the stadium, traffic management, and the stadium and spectators during matches.
He added that special arrangements had also been made for the security of VIPs and VVIPs, who are expected to attend the opening and closing ceremonies.
More than 1,000 police personnel will be deployed daily for these security operations, including officers in plain clothes.
Police will also monitor the venue through CCTV cameras and drones, while sniffer dogs will be used for security checks.
CCTV cameras have been installed around the stadium, and police personnel deployed at the venue will monitor the footage. Surveillance of cameras installed elsewhere will be handled through the police CCTV control room.
In addition to Nepal Police, the Armed Police Force will also be deployed to provide external security.
