Nepali Congress to begin voting at 10 am Thursday after three-hour delay

Nepali Congress

Kathmandu, October 7

Voting to elect the new Central Working Committee of the Nepali Congress will begin at 10 am Thursday, with 7,255 general convention delegates set to cast their ballots for the party’s new leadership.

Voting had originally been scheduled to begin at 7 am, but the election committee has delayed the process by three hours due to rainfall and technical issues.

Prem Bahadur Khadka, coordinator of the Central Election Committee and senior advocate, said preparations were underway to begin voting at 10 am.

Seven polling stations have been set up at three locations in Kathmandu to facilitate voting.

The National Assembly Hall will serve as the polling centre for delegates from Bagmati Province.

Delegates from Koshi, Madhes, Karnali and Sudurpaschim provinces will vote at Khulamanch. Delegates representing the party’s sister organisations, affiliated organisations and overseas liaison committees will also cast their ballots at Khulamanch.

The Pragya Pratishthan building has been designated as the polling centre for delegates from Gandaki and Lumbini provinces.

Delegates must vote at the polling centre assigned to their respective province or group.

The election committee said delegates will be allowed to vote only after their identity and names on the voter list have been verified.

The voting will determine the leadership of the Nepali Congress at its 15th General Convention, with delegates choosing the party’s new Central Working Committee.
