Kathmandu, September 25
Vehicles leaving Kathmandu via the Prithvi Highway are being stopped at the entry point at Kalanki.
The restriction was imposed after landslides hit several points along the Dhading section of the Kathmandu–Narayangadh road, halting both large and small vehicles trying to leave Kathmandu from Kalanki.
Buses and other vehicles are now lined up bumper to bumper along the stretch from Balkhu to Kalanki. Police say seven landslide sites have hit the Dhading section of the Prithvi Highway due to the rain.
Dhading Police say debris has already been cleared at some locations, while clearing work is still underway at others.
The BP Highway and Kantilokpath also remain closed. Landslides at multiple points along these highways have kept vehicles from moving since early morning, and with the rain not letting up, the administrative offices in the affected districts have suspended vehicle operations.
