Bang Chan, a member of the K-pop group Stray Kids, has donated 200 million won (about $144,295). JYP Entertainment announced on Saturday that the funds will go toward rehabilitation care in South Korea and recovery efforts following the devastating flood in Nepal.
Bang Chan donated 100 million won each to Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital and the Korean Committee for UNICEF.
The donation to Seoul Rehabilitation Hospital will be used to establish specialised rehabilitation centres tailored to patients’ age and health conditions. The funds given to UNICEF Korea will go toward recovery efforts for communities affected by the recent major flood in Nepal.
In a statement released through JYP Entertainment, Bang Chan said, “I wanted to offer even a small measure of comfort to those going through an exhausting and difficult time.” He added, “I sincerely hope as many people as possible can return to a peaceful daily life as soon as possible.”
Bang Chan has continued to donate steadily in recent years.
Last year, on October 3, to mark his birthday, he donated 100 million won to Samsung Medical Centre to cover treatment costs for pediatric patients, along with another 100 million won to UNICEF Korea for children worldwide.
In 2024, he donated 100 million won to the Community Chest of Korea for people with disabilities, becoming a member of the organization’s major-donor group, the “Honour Society.”
