Kavrepalanchok, September 18
Major historical, religious and tourist sites in the southeastern part of Kavrepalanchok are set to be developed into a ‘Buddha Circuit’ trail.
The federal government has allocated Rs 250 million for the circuit, which will connect the historic town of Panauti with Namobuddha and Temal, said Madhu Chaulagain, a member of the House of Representatives from Kavrepalanchok.
In the first phase, Rs 100 million will be spent on constructing physical and cultural heritage structures related to Lord Buddha along the Panauti-Namobuddha road. Prayer wheels, chaityas and statues of the Laughing Buddha will also be installed at various locations, along with information boards featuring Thangka art.
According to Chaulagain, the objective is to transform the approximately eight-kilometre Panauti-Namobuddha road into an attractive tourist route featuring heritage sites associated with Lord Buddha.
Under the Buddha Circuit project, a Ratuwa deer park will be constructed in the Bokse Community Forest at Dapcha along the Namobuddha-Bhakunde road section.
Similarly, a Cultural Confluence Gate will be constructed at the Chardobato intersection in Bhakundebesi along the BP Highway.
