Kathmandu, September 17
A Nepal Army helicopter has been mobilised to rescue a woman critically injured after falling from a cliff near Nyuna village, Saipal Rural Municipality-5, in Bajhang.
The rescue effort is moving forward through an initiative by the Minister for Infrastructure Development, in coordination with disaster management agencies.
The woman suffered spinal injuries in the fall and is in critical condition. Since carrying her by stretcher to the district headquarters, Chainpur, could have taken up to two days, resident Ain Mahar requested Infrastructure Development Minister Sunil Lamsal to help arrange a helicopter rescue instead.
A Nepal Army helicopter has been mobilised from its Surkhet base for the rescue, with preparations underway to bring the woman to Nepalgunj.
Earlier, the District Administration Office, Bajhang, had written to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority requesting a helicopter for the rescue.
