NEPSE falls 15.43 points as trading turnover rises

All major indicators of the Nepali stock market declined on Wednesday, with the market index, NEPSE, falling 15.43 points to close at 2,545 points.

The market had risen for four consecutive trading days before declining on Wednesday.

Trading turnover increased slightly. Transactions worth Rs 4.19 billion were recorded on Wednesday, up from Rs 3.83 billion on the previous day. Share prices of 74 companies increased, while those of 192 companies declined and 11 remained unchanged.

The development bank sector recorded the steepest decline, falling 2.37%.

The banking sector fell 0.16%, finance 1.08%, hotels and tourism 1.38%, hydropower 0.49%, investment 0.82%, life insurance 0.20%, manufacturing and processing 0.28%, microfinance 0.25%, non-life insurance 1.57%, others 0.52% and trading 1.56%.

Upper Lohorekhola Hydropower recorded the biggest gain, with its share price rising 15%. Shubham Power gained 6.40%, Barahi Hydropower 5.79% and Ingwa Hydropower 3.66%.

Emerging Nepal, Sindhu Development Bank and Janaki Finance each saw their share prices fall 15%. The prices of Sindhu Development Bank and Janaki Finance have been declining since an agreement was reached for their acquisition by Muktinath Development Bank.

Kalinchowk Darshan fell 14.28%, Upakar Laghubitta 12.04%, Muktinath Development Bank 7.98%, Trishuli Hydropower 7.60%, Saptakoshi Development Bank 7.33%, Nepal Finance 6.44%, and Mailung Khola Hydropower 6.32%.

Companies with the highest trading volumes on Wednesday included Reliance Spinning Mills, Central Finance, NRN Infrastructure, Solu Hydropower, Shivam Cement, Sanima Middle Tamor and Emerging Nepal.
