Authorities in Nuwakot will hold discussions with government and non-governmental organisations on the management of holding centres accommodating people rescued after the devastating Rasuwa floods.
The District Administration Office, Nuwakot has called a meeting for Monday at 4 pm to discuss the management of holding centres and other related issues.
Representatives of government and non-governmental organisations working in the district have been invited to attend the meeting, which will be held at the hall of the District Administration Office.
These centres have been established in Nuwakot and Rasuwa to accommodate people displaced or rescued following the August 26 floods. According to an earlier situation report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority, 19 holding centres in Nuwakot were accommodating 2,653 people.
The centres have been providing temporary shelter and relief to people affected by the floods, which severely damaged settlements along the Bhotekoshi and Trishuli river corridors.
The meeting is expected to focus on improving coordination among agencies involved in managing the centres and addressing the needs of people staying there.
